Dandelion

Dandelion

You know how you lost her:
letter by letter.

The poem of her unlaced;
like a chain of dandelions you whispered to,
blew away their tiny parachutes. Early,
too early. Not even in time to meet the honey bees.
And some of them flew, found a spring.

Walk through the meadow, dear;
wonder which were yours.

About gatito2

My name is Rhonda. I'm a registered nurse, for the last 20 years, that has not been able to work since the day I learned of my daughter's death by suicide 4-12-13. (She actually died 4-11-13 and her body was not found until the 12th) Me and my husband have been married for 32 years and he's a wonderful man. We grieve in different ways. He works, I write. This is my journey through this horrible land of losing a child..

    She was Neal, she was excellent in everything. I don’t know how she fit that much talent in such a small body.

    This poem terrified me because I understand exactly what she’s saying. Just this morning I was feeling so low I thought I might hurt myself—I took medicine to put me to rest. I am very groggy and out of it. But this poem cut through me. What an amazingly talented and bright young woman! I just want to hug her and we can fall asleep until we feel better.

    Unfortunately No Name, as you know, she fell permanently asleep from this world. The only thing that helps me to survive is knowing she is somewhere else, free from the pain we didn’t know she had. Please learn from her. She was very wise, brilliant, wonderful, and strong, but even in all her gifts and strength she could no longer fight depression on her own after many years of doing so (according to her note). Please do not follow her lead. Admire her works, her words, her brilliance, but please do as she did not, continue to live and get help when you need it.

  25. It just feels so tragic that a person of such sensitivity and depth felt so out of place in this world. Such a sad reflection on our society.

    I know, but it seems people like that are affected the most. I don’t know why she was so sad, she simply wrote to us that she was sad and that it was so pervasive. Depression does horrible things.
