Madison Holleran: we must increase the dialogue about depression

This article was written by Dr. MICAELA WEXLER who is a pyschiatrist. She posted on my blog not long after Kaitlyn died. She graciously agreed to write something for my book and it is included in my book about depression and her own experiences. Here she writes about Madison Holleran that also took her own life and I think it’s something everyone must read. She sent this to me today via email. I wish Dr. Wexler worked around here.

About gatito2

My name is Rhonda. I'm a registered nurse, for the last 20 years, that has not been able to work since the day I learned of my daughter's death by suicide 4-12-13. (She actually died 4-11-13 and her body was not found until the 12th) Me and my husband have been married for 32 years and he's a wonderful man. We grieve in different ways. He works, I write. This is my journey through this horrible land of losing a child..

  1. Thank you for your blog. We need all the help we can get in this world in terms of decreasing the stigma of mental illness so people will get the help they need. I am so sorry about your daughter’s death.

Thank you. That is now my mission in life…to help decrease the stigma of mental illness and to help in suicide prevention. I wish I could do more. I do have a book that is about to be published, I hope that will help too.
