My Book

Just wanted everyone to know that as soon as I mail the signed contract to the publishing company, which I will do this week, I will send in my completed book to them so they can edit it, format it, and so on. Once they get the contract it will take them around 6 to 8 weeks to publish. So, it will be available for order probably in April sometime or so. April…..I didn’t mean for it to be in April (Kaitlyn died 4-11-13) but perhaps it is fitting.

The book is about my experience with Kaitlyn’s loss by suicide and all that it entails, her life, the stigma of mental illness, things that are being done, quotes from some of her friends and their memories of her, stories of people that have lost loved one’s to suicide, stories of people who have depression, etc and lived to tell about it, various selections of my blog, small articles by professionals, medical school student, doctor, resident’s stories of depression, and much, much more.

I do not expect a profit from this book as that is not the reason I wrote it. It was a mission of love and I was absolutely compelled to do it and I feel strongly that it’s what Kaitlyn wanted me to do. If I break even with my costs in getting this book published, it will be ok, if I don’t that’s ok too. But if I don’t sell many, that means not many people are seeing the strong message I have to say and what Kaitlyn could not say, so in that regard, I hope it sells well. I also hope I have done her memory justice but even so I cannot tell in a book how amazing she truly was, but I tried. I also hope that I get the message that I wanted to send out received loud and clear to those that need to see it. I will let you all know when it’s ready to purchase. It will be sold on Amazon and some other places and I also will make it available on Kindle.

The cover will look something like this: I can’t remember if I have shown it here or not or said what it means here before or not, so I will do it again if so. The background is a picture from The Hubble Spacecraft of the Cosmos. That and my title My Bright Shining Star go together I think. I always called her my bright shining star and that is where I got the title. I made this cover myself but the publishing company may tweak it and make it prettier or change its font or something.

To those not familiar with my blog, Kaitlyn was just starting her 3rd year of medical school at Wake Forest School of Medicine in North Carolina when she took her own life 4-11-13. That is why I am using a medical school tag on this blog.

About gatito2

My name is Rhonda. I'm a registered nurse, for the last 20 years, that has not been able to work since the day I learned of my daughter's death by suicide 4-12-13. (She actually died 4-11-13 and her body was not found until the 12th) Me and my husband have been married for 32 years and he's a wonderful man. We grieve in different ways. He works, I write. This is my journey through this horrible land of losing a child..
